The Department of Turkish Language and Literature gives priority to two areas of teaching. One is the field of linguistics, which focuses on the development and changes of Turkish language and its features and traits in different historical phases. The other is literature; here Turkish literature in different periods is examined. The department aims to educate prospective researchers and teachers who, having an extensive knowledge of Turkish literature and linguistics as well as modern approaches in Western literature, can pursue an academic career or choose to work in secondary/high schools.
