INTERNATIONAL FACULTY OF ISLAMIC AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES - ISLAMIC AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES
A General Look At The Program

International Islamic and Religious Studies Department is an equivalent of ilahiyat (theology/divinity) faculties in our country’s higher education system, and its graduates have rights same with those of the latter.  Its International Theology Program has started in 2012-2013 academic year. Its curriculum focuses on “Main Islamic Sciences” and the languages of instruction are Arabic and Turkish. Our department has an international character regarding both its target population and programs, and its “International Theology Program” has a required Arabic Preparation class taught by distinguished faculty members from Arab world as well as Turkey. In this program, in addition to providing basic education in the field of theology through required courses, there are selective courses offered to help students understand Western countries’ religion, culture, art, and thought in a wide spectrum. These courses are designed with establishing coordination across different scientific disciplines in mind. Elective courses are enriched according to students’ interests, demands, and needs as well as new developments and requirements.
